Prayers for the Victims of Disasters

H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang has made a request to participate in prayers for the victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts raging in different parts of the world.

The Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang calls for participation in a 108,000 Recitation Campaign of the Six Syllable Mantra of Chenrezig “Om Mani Peme Hung”, supported by the non-profit community initiative,
Rainbow of Life Forces. This Mantra represents the essence of the Dharma. The mantra speaks of the loving actions of body, speech, and mind.

I sincerely request all of you to participate in this Mani Recitation Campaign. We pray and dedicate the merit of recitation to all our brothers and sisters who suffer the most from the disasters like the devastating quakes in Japan, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, landslides and wars in different places on earth.  You can recite the mantra alone, with family or friends.  The joint effort will add to the welfare of humanity at this difficult moment of time.

Please visit also the Mani Recitation Campaign for Quake Victims.

In the meantime, on behalf of the victims of the earth quake and the ensuing tsunami which stroke Japan on March 11, 2011, the monks and nuns from the Jangchubling Monastery, Samtenling Nunnery and Kagyu College all gathered together for two days of prayers. The prayers started in the mornings and lasted until evening. There were prayers of Sampa Lhundrub (bsam pa lhun grub), Barche Lamsel (bar chad lam sel), dedication prayers, and world peace prayers. All the prayers went well and the monastic community of Drikung Kagyu Institute and its affiliated branches strongly hopes that the people and the nation of Japan would soon recover from the tragedy and all unfavorable conditions.
